I took note of it then, but have to find that note again. I had borrowed a cd at the main discothèque in Brussels, the work of a German Jewish composer 'in memoriam' of children killed in that area (I seem to remember). After listening to it in profound sorrow, the phone rang: "Ich will meines Gotteskind!" the voice of an elderly woman said to me, again and again, in desperation. I tried to explain that she was at the wrong number, but she insisted. Finally, the 'conversation' ended. Stupefied, my intention was to look into this, but no time, no PC for research and no clues. Ten years ago, I moved and met a woman from Hamburg in the hall; French and German speaking. Extremely thin, shaking, as if on the brink. I so wanted to ask her about this matter, but it was clear that any questions were tabou. Does anyone reading me know of this composer? of that area? and of the Children of Bullenhuser Demm? They have a special place in my heart and prayers, as do any and all victims of unfathomable cruelty.
