After the pictures I looked at today I was in aw. I couldn't belive an evil man could do that to regular people. Everybody should have the right to live and not die of there religon or race or color. Thank you for all the people who helped the Jews hide and all the surviving Jews. I can't belive what you went through. Once I was shopping in a mall when my eyes fell upon that book..."Not very expensive I thought"....I bought that book but unfortunately it waited in my bookshelf for another 2 years until one day I actually felt that it was calling my name...that it wanted to be opened...and so I did... As I went through I just felt...different...I found out the most beautiful things that a girl can write but can't say...I found out that some things are better to be left behind than to be brought forward...I learned that you can find happiness in the darkest of times...I learned a lot more stuff…. The funny thing is that I haven’t even finished that book so I am thinking that I have a lot to learn from the writings of that young girl…. I can see why Anne would have liked it, as it appears to be a very beautiful countryside. I have never been there and look forward to visiting some day, to the place Anne was hiding and to her actual Grave, to place a rose for her and her sister. Your email address: anthropologywoman@yahoo.com 3297 Fri January 30 2009 - 20:49:28 Fullname: Bianca Ortiz Where are you from?: Taunton, Massachusetts Comments: What Anne Frank showed throughout her years of being in hiding was courage, faith, and hope. I think she displayed what many people in this world need. She gave hope to those who read her diary. She showed that life is hard, however you can always have faith in waht you believe in and god will let you through. Her belief that human goodness still existed although the war was going on was incredible. For a young teenager, Anne was very couragous. She had the courage to not give up, when many of us, if put in the same situation, would have. Rest in peace Anne Frank. Your goodness will never be forgotten. I have seen documentaries, films and plays about Anne Frank, her family and the others. It is only now at this very point that I am reading the diary. I suppose this is because the BBC have just broadcast what is a very compelling production of the Diary and having bought the Diary alive I am now reading it! I first heard of the Diary in 1997 and I subsequently went to central London to an evening where extracts of it were read. That's where I heard the Dairy for the first time, being read by people such as Terry Waite but also Anne's cousin who was amazing to listen to. It was such a memorable and mind-blowing time as there were also people outside proclaiming that the holocaust did not happen. I am also very moved by the courage of the helpers to those in the Annexe. All acted so selflessly during a time when so many others robbed to survive. I am especially touched by Miep Gies and her husband, Jan. Without Miep, of course, Anne's diary would not have survived to reach out and challenge so many people's lives. I am amazed my parents my never mentioned Anne Frank and her diary when I was a child. I was born in 1956 at a time when it was becoming better known. My mother is four years younger than Anne, but my mother's sister was born in 1929 like Anne. My father fought in the war in north Africa and Italy. He is 93 now. I suppose neither wanted to talk about the war. So maybe they therefore did not want to mention Anne and her story to my brothers, sisters and me. I would really like to wish Miep a very blessed 100th birthday next month. I had thought I would send a card but thought that rather intrusive, especially when her address is unknown to me. However, I am sure it would have got there somehow ! I was raised to believe that all people are equal in the eyes of God. How awful it was for this family, and many others like them, to have to live their lives in this kind of fear. Can anyone imagine how hard it must be to live while in hiding? It's unimagineable. We are lucky, though, to have had the story told in her own words. What an extremely brave and courageous girl she was. I wish all people could live in peace and harmony. What a wonderful world that would be. God bless her, and her family. S. Even after studying about Anne Frank many times before it it still hard for me to understand what Hitlers prolbem was with Jews and why he killed Jews. It's hard for me to even think about the conditions at the camps that so many jewish people were sent to and brutaily tortured, beaten, and starved. Anne Frank had her whole life ahead of her until she was found at her hiding spot in the netherlands (Amsterdam). Adolf Hitler was a crazy "Monster" who I don't even think that you could call him a human being for the things he did and how he treated those people for doing nothing wrong. -God bless Anne Frank and may she rest in peace- Your email address: eddivanhalen5150@yahoo.com 3281 Sat January 10 2009 - 04:28:03 Fullname: ross duncan Where are you from?: scotland Comments: to spare a thought for anne frank and her family even if they are gone can only be so they did not die for nothing, its been 18years since i stood in her house and will be bck with my now young family. if there is such a place as heaven then she will truely be one of god angles looking down on what became of her beloved amsterdam. heres to you anne frank Your email address: duncan74@hotmail.co.uk 3280 Sat January 10 2009 - 01:59:19 Fullname: maggie witherford Where are you from?: Bedworth England Comments: Having watched a tv programme on Anne Frank am lost for words - can only say We must never forget. If anyone asked me what i thought of Hitler, i would say that he was the lowest, most cowardly snake that the world has ever had the misfortune to handle, he should burn in hell for all eternity for the sins which are his and his alone. Anna Frank didn't deserve to die, to pray for Freedom on deaf ears is a shame, Anna Frank will never be forgotten, If everyone cared and out aside their differences, then no one would have to die, for no mater how different we are on the outside, our hearts all beat the same no matter what. R.I.P Anna Frank, you will ALWAYS be remembered. i want you as a personal dedication to Anna, to listen to If everyone cared by Nickelback, and think to yourself, what would the world be like, if everyone cared about one another, and tried to make a difference for the good of others no matter what race or color they are? Annes' Diary is like a bible to me. I read it when I feel a little sad or scared, it shows me that I have nothing to be scared of as I am not hiding away from my fate. Anne was my age when her hiding place was found, and I cannot begin to describe the terror I felt from reading her words. I read it aloud, to anyone who had the time to listen. Miep -- This lady is as we say here in England, a true hero. I myself feel that I would never have the physical or the mental power to proceed with the tasks asked of her. She is a very special lady and will never be able to be given enough thanks from anyone, for the work she did for those eight people. I feel the pain of 'Mr Dussel', leaving a loved one behind at the best of times is hard, so when there is a chance of losing them for good is simply heartbreaking. Anne Franks death was devastating and heartbreaking, especially having the witness your older sister, who Anne felt she was suppose to look up to, die slowley, bit by bit, piece by piece. Anne Frank, is my hero. Nobody will ever replace the respect that I have for her.
