Message Text: My grandfather served in the Merchant Navy during WW2 and up til 1947. Sadly my grandfather passed away in 1982 but via the internet I was able to find he was entitled to medals (more now which I am getting my grandmother to obtain) and I know where ever he is he would be proud. What he and other Merchant seaman did for their nations for me are very highly regarded and respected!

Message Text: I and a cousin are trying to track down information in regards to are Uncle Thomas McNicholas. He served on a merchant that was sunk by a U-boat. This could be the SS Yorktown which was part of convoy RB1. It was sunk on September 26, 1942.
So far the records check at the PRO has not turned up anything to verify if he was on this ship. He later served on US merchant ships mainly in the Pacific. He retired from merchant duty.

Message Text: I am the secretary of the Kent East panel of Remap. We are an engineering charity making bespoke aids to help the disabled. We have around 1500 craftsmen, engineers, DIY people throughout the whole of the UK but in some areas of the country, such as East Kent, we have insufficient engineers to handle all the cases that are referred to us. One of our current engineers is ex-naval and has suggested that The Merchant Navy Association may be a possible source of volunteer engineers for us. Our engineers work mainly alongside Occupational Therapists or Physiotherapists to visit clients, assess needs, and design and manufacture a bespoke solution where there is no commercially available aid. The panels will take referrals from any source and provide a solution free of charge to the client. The expenses of the engineer, including travel costs, are paid by Remap. Is anyone interested in joining us ?

Message Text: Hi
This posting is dedicated to my dad, Terence John Coles, known as Terry, who passed away after a long illness on the 15th February 2008.
Dad took an active part in the MNA Suffolk branch and loved meeting up with friends, talking about old times and enjoyed various activities/trips.
I would like to thank everyone who visited dad or sent their kind messages whilst he has been ill. These were greatly appreciated by Dad and our family.
With kind regards Amanda
