Message Text: Hi
Can anyone give me an idea of how long it would have taken my grandmother to travel from Liverpool to Colombo by ship. She traveled 1st class on the Bibby Lines ship "Herefordshire" which departed Liverpool on 11th December 1915 and went via Marseilles, Port Said (and the Suez Canal) to Colombo?
Would the ship have had to avoid the German Navy on the way?

For most of his working life, he was a Steward for Cunard Lines. His last ship before his retirement in 1990 was the Queen Elizabeth II. Message Text: I am asking for help in finding out my late fathers wartime service in the MN. His name was Thomas Reed, from Sunderland, Co Durham. I know he was mostly coastal, but he did mention Malta, Holland and other european countries. At one time while young I did see his log book, can't remember any ship names apart from 'Everard'? Can any body tell me where I can possibly find out his history, what ships, what medals etc. I am getting on myself now and I am doing this for his grandchildren and greatgranchildren.
Thanking you in anticipation. Brian Reed

Message Text: HMS Glenearn. I sailed withy about 300 US military on the Glenearn in August 1944 from New York to New Guinea. The trip took 48 days, through the Panama Canal with one short stop at Bora Bora where we were able to walk to the Navy base and buy some bananas. We sailed alone with no escort. Forthy eight days in the lower hold on a stiff hammock was an experience. We crossed the Equator on Sept 2, 1944. I still remember some of the crew's names as they came over the PA system. I'd like to get a photo of the HMS Glenearn.
