Message Text: Hi all
I am wondering if anyone out there can shed light on a John Ashton who spent time with the Merchant Navy before becoming a poiceman in 1930.
He was born in 1908 and was also known as Sonny.
I'm wondering if there is anyone who finds this name familiar or can help me find out what John did while he was with the Navy.
I have no other info

Message Text: Looking for people who worked with Victor Aquilina. He was an oiler on various ships.
He was on Orion during 1962. His discharge book is difficult to read but it looks like July 1962 to November 1962.
He was on Orcades from 11.6.65 to Sept 65
Orsova from 28.3.63 to August 63 and from 30 Sept 1963 to a date that isn't readable from his discharge book. He was on Orsova again in 1964 from an unreadable date to 16th August 1964.
British Guardsman from 24 Feb 1964 to 30th April 1964 and again from an unreadable date in his discharge book to 14th June 1964
Oronsay from 1.9.64 to 5.1.65 and another voyage after this in 1965 but the dates are unreadable from his discharge book.
I wonder if you remember him or were on any of the ships at the same time as him? I can send a photo from his discharge book if you think it will help.
If you remember him please e-mail me at : email@example.com

My first vessel was the "MV Somers Isle" bound out of Liverpool for Bermuda, North America, the Bahamas and the West Indies.
I remember watching Prince Charles inaugaration as Prince of Wales on Television from the Seamans Mission in a beautiful colonial style building with verandas and rocking chairs in Hamilton Bermuda.
