The Bermuda Triangle programme stated that a British merchant ship had been torpedoed in WW2 off Florida.They said the name of the ship was HMS (!!!)Umtata.Why dont theses well paid people ever get their facts right , unless its me of course.Rant over !

Message Text: I think my comments may be of interest to other shipmates. I refer to the oil spill in the gulf. BP are taking all the flack for the spill. BP found oil, chartered an American rig from probably an American company with I assume an American employed crew and commenced drilling, disaster, B O P did not work alarms switched off surely all rig operaters fault. BP did'nt switch off the alarms. I think the Americans and Obahma should accept more of the blame. BP would not be operating the rig H G Perry

Message Text: I'd like to contact anyone who was on the 'Stanvac South Africa' standing by for the last two months of the new build at the Mitsubishi Shipyard, Nagasaki, Japan - the 'Stanvac Japan' a prior build, had serious engine trouble on her maiden voyage - hence the reason for a long standby on the second ship built.
Perhaps a long shot on this - I was the Radio Officer (British) with other officers predominantly Australian. Around July 1953.
Additionally - Ernie Adams - R/O of Co. Fermanagh contact please.

Message Text: I am trying to find information on Herbert Nurse (my father) of British Guiania who was boxer, joined the Merchant Navy in WW2 and died soon after.
I have a death certificate for a Fitzherbert Nurse, fireman, who died in Rio de Janeiro in 1941, but do not know if it is the same person. My father was married to Betty Nurse, nee Donald, who disappeared.
