Comments: Despite all of this it still does not justify theft in order to pay for teachings that one does not agree with. A tax is a theft of property and using that money to teach something that the taxpayer does not want or care to learn is like a double kick to the nuts.

Comments: Actually Jesus did not say pay taxes. When asked whether or not people should pay taxes he asked whos face is on the coins. followed by give to caesar what has caesars face on it. This was drawing more to the fact that money in effect in the eyes of God is useless unless we give it value. All the money in the world is useless without humanity giving it value it is a tangible object given intangible purpose. Jesus was arguably pointing out not to pay taxes but to put less value in money and more value in God

Comments: Hello Jan,

You quoted "1Jn 3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you."

It's pretty smug to assume that the world cannot possibly have a legitimate motive for taking a dim view of Hovind. You'll find many sugh motives documented on this website.

Comments: Joh 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Joh 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

1Jn 3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

Mat 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

Luk 6:22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you and shall reproach and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

Joh 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before you.

Comments: I would also like to add that Hovind tried all kinds of tricks to avoid paying taxes for years including trying to renounce his US citizenship but continued to take advantage of the privileges that such citizenship carries with it including: a) Attempted enforcement of intellectual property rights even though he had waved all copyright claims years earlier. b) Ownership of more than half a dozen guns including an SKS assault rifle.

Comments: Hello Anonymous,

NonBelievers may argue that point for as long as they wish. For Believers, on the other hand, the answer is clear: when Jews of Jesus's time asked Him whether they should pay taxes (to the brutal Roman occupiers, no less) He said to pay them. We're not supposed to put government to the trouble of "making us" do it.

Comments: Kent hovind has a point on a certain level should his tax dollars go to support something he himself does not believe in? I think anyone with sense can agree that no one should be forced to pay a tax for a service they do not believe in.

Comments: Kent Hovind makes me angry, either he is ignorant of the subject he debates or he is an outright liar (or in some cases probably both).

It saddens me that he has such a standing and that many people are sucked into his propaganda and belive his lies, it worries me that he is able to brainwash children.

I am relieved that I do not live in the US and thankfully most people outside the US have never even heard of this nutcase and creationism is nothing more than another reason to laugh at Americans.

Comments: Hello Haeckel.

One thing we insist on here is that other posters and commenters be prepared to back up their claims. You will find that it is a common theme in my comments here and on the site itself. You said "A quick look at your website and when I saw a quote to "talkorigins" I fell out of my chair. HUGE RED FLAG. Anything citing that bogus misniformation filled website automatically is discounted as fraudulent."

Please point out the quote or link in question.

Thanks.
