I saw your page on Kelton. I grew up on the ranch about 1 mile north of Kelton. This was the ranch that served the wagon train as they came in from the northwest. The cattle coming to the rail could obviously not cruse right into the town of Kelton. Our ranch served as their stopping off place as they waited for the train. When I was a kid, the old stock yards still stood. There were double decked loading chutes. We actually used the corrals and the loading chutes when we would gather cattle from down south. There were still a few old sheds still kind of standing back then. Thanks for taking back down memory lane for a while. Your Comments: I just got home from a 2 week vacation to Modena, Utah. Yes I know what you are thinking.. WHO DID YOU VISIT.. I was actually up in Hamlyn Valley visiting family . I am very interested in the history of Modena now that I have been there. The town draws you in and almost begs for you to learn about it yet nothing is really written about it. The store that was spoken of with the pictures is now closed and as far as the lady who was running the store I am not sure if she has passed on or not. The post office has moved outside of that building and is now across the street. My boyfriend remembers going into Modena when he was a child with his grandfather and just being amazed also at the way the store was set up to take you directly back into time.
