I was a member of the fan club and can even remember my membership number (9929), I wonder what happened to Gay Purle who used to run the club? Comments: Well hello! Having been a fan of Bucks Fizz since the Eurovision (I was 7!) I was delighted to see both Bobby and Mike on Channel 4's RI:SE this morning. Has the hatchet been buried? Having grown up wanting to be in the music industrym I was fortunate to end working for a BBC local radio station when I was just 13 and it was here that I first got to work with Bucks Fizz. Cheryl, Mike and Bobby were playing at the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon and it was my job to introduce them. A proud moment. I then got really lucky in 1991 and found myself as the new host of TOTP on BBC1 at the age of 17! I was hoping that maybe, just maybe The Fizz would be on in some capacity but it wasn't to be. I did get to meet Shelley Preston though, she was singing backing vocals t a Brian May track!! I managed to become a friend of Cheryl's when I appeared as a guest on Record Breakers and she invited me to see you guys in Newport. You were great! I also saw the Are You Ready, Magical & Writings On The Wall tours! I just wanted to post for a couple of reasons really, one to say hi and the other because even now, at 28, I find I can't help but still love some of the old songs, I'm the MD at a radio station in Wales now and we still play New Beginning (I think we might be alone but who cares!!). Thanks for the memories and great times growing up. Will any of the older stuff ever be available on CD? I'd love a copy of She Cries from I Hear Talk. Finally, is a one-off gig of all the 'old' gang totally out of the question - I hope not to offend any of the new gang, sincere apologies if I do. I personally feel it would be a huge success and a wonderful trip down memory lane to see you do ALL the hits that you made famous and some of those album tracks too - just a thought, maybe a 25th anniversary?? We are pleased to learn that the saga of the copyright/trade mark legal battles betweeen David Van Day and Bobbie/Heidi are now somewhar resolved to the satisfaction of both parties. However, the BBC program did manage to show what an arrogant, malicious, vindictive, vain 'has been' that Van Day is. Van Day projected himself as a spoilt little brat that is jealous of other peoples success, talent and professionalism. The drunken Van Day has never achieved success, even when he was with Dollar, and if he should consider that indeed he did, then one has to wonder just why he did not rejenerate the Dollar brand instead of climbing on board the Bucks Fizz respected good name and success. To be perfectly candid, then it should be noted that we do not like either the Dollar or Bucks Fizz type image, or music, and yet one cannot help but admire Bobbie and Heidi's tenacity and love of the image that they themselves created decades ago. Both Heidi and Bobbie projected themselves as reasonable individuals with more talent and a sense of true professionalism that Van Day would do well to try to emulate. Van Day would also do well to remember that his obvious jealousy of Heidi/Bobbie will eventually erode away at him and further destroy whatever he has left of his wasted life! Incidentally, the BBC program closed with scenes of Van Dam on stage with the 'Van Day Bucks Fizz Show' and we all agreed that he looked ridiculous and indeed did nothing more that smother the talents of those on stage with him. We too have been fans of the group since 1981 and have very much enjoyed seeing them in concert 5 times over the last couple of decades. I even did my English O'level project about the Group and got a good grade. Thank you. We still have fonds memories of them especially of Bobby who was always our favourite. We were disgusted at David van Day's attitude towards Bobby and Heidi on the Trouble at the Top programme. Comments: After recently celebrating my 30th birthday and feeling rather 'down in the dumps' at the prospect of OAP status and a state pension being less that 30 years away, I was elated to watch, reminiss and sigh contentedly at being whisked back to memory lane watching 'Trouble at the Top'and seeing all of my fondest memories of Bucks Fizz. But my happiness turned to sheer amazement when I witnessed David Van Day childish, stubborn and irrational behaviour. Not only did he come across as a bit of a bunny boiler but this bloke is seriously deluded. He's a sad old has been that has had his 15 minutes of fame - for that's all it was - and is deceiving himself to think that he could ever make it big. His delusion must stem from all those years of drink, drugs and the smell of burger fat. His inability to make it on his own merits and talents (I use the word talent in its looses form) have turned him into a bitter, twisted and sad old man. How can a man who was in the group for all of 2 minutes have the audacity to think that he can use the Bucks Fizz name. What a complete nutter!!! His arrogance, ignorance and stupidity came through crystal clear in the programme, whilst Bobby G and the other members of Bucks Fizz carried themselves with dignity. Comments: Like so many others here, watching 'Trouble At The Top' provoked me to see if you had an 'official' website and show my support. It's been a long time since I listened to Bucks Fizz (I am 30 now) but when I was a child, they were my first and favourite band. I had all of the posters, singles and albums - cried uncontrollably when one of them got recorded over, waited patiently for their appearances on all of the Saturday morning shows. I think that anyone on the right side of sanity can see which of the two 'Bucks Fizz's' is the real one and which is the tired out and worn, poor copy. Putting aside the seriousness of the whole situation, it was a constant amusement to see David Van Day jumping around on the screen, revelling in a party that so obviously nobody in their right mind would invite him too. Bobby came across as a professional; whereas Van Day was just a mere embarrassment. The Eighties was a great time for music and with relevance to the genre of music that you (the 'real' Bucks Fizz) made and a lot of the other bands of the time, more sophisticated than what we have on the 'pop' scene today. I really hope that you win the battle you deserve, but in terms of the fans that you have (I read this guestbook) and the people that remember everything that went on in that decade, it is obvious that you have already won.
