I'd love to read one. If there is a single thing that Yvonne is tremendous at, it is the telling of a story...and everytime, I ache everytime one of her stories ends. Still, I think you're being a little too hard. Just because you aren't a member of the target audience for the Buffy books, doesn't mean they're crap. That's like an Arab calling Shakespeare crap -- different words for different people based on culture and history. From a marketing standpoint let me mention this. Publishers pay attention to how many books are sold by each author regardless of the subject. So if a fan was to boycott certian novels/works of an author because they don't like the subject matter, that action actually effects future works by said author. Not that you or your friends are guilty of this, just passing on info that many do not know. Contracts are based on sales. What I have noticed, however, and you can agree, is that Yvonne's skill and dedication is still evident in the Buffy Books. I am not the most diehard fan of the series, but I have heard from several people that she has captured the voice and manner of Willow so perfectly, she must have been the creator. That is a skill I envy. Yes, there was a cross-cultural anthropologist named Stephen Arden in Species. In the movie, the character was played by Alfred Molina. However, his character was also killed by Sil in Species, and so there is only a reference to him (as backstory) in Species II. I can't take the credit for the addition of an anthropologist though, since that, of course, came from the screenwriter and creator of Species, Dennis Feldman. I fought it out with the new owners as long as I could, but ultimately they pulled them all, and Brian's was one of those. As far as I know, he has not yet selected a new home for his web site.
