Comments: I'm not really into reading but I love your pics & was wondering if you'd do me the honor of drawing me a pic of a leopard as I'm into tattoos & can't seem to find a good one of a leopard as of yet. If it's too much trouble I'll let ya slide & understand your a very busy woman who probally doesn't have time for something so simple but....... thanks anyways.

Comments: Hi everyone! Back from L.A., where I had a marvelous time and signed a few books at Dark Delacacies in Burbank. I was all over the coastline around the San Pedro area, and Weston played gracious host and and all around Great Guide.

Mekare -- thanks for your praise. AfterAge should soon be coming out in limited edition form from The Overlook Connection Press (www.overlookconnection.com). The edition includes an introduction by Brian Hodge, the original short-short story upon which the novel was based, the novel, an afterword by me, and the Prologue to a sequel-in-progress.

I've just finished up the first draft of Buffy: Tempted Champions and am now working on a couple of stories I've promised. After that, it's back to Mirror Me, which is at page 370 and nearing completion. I also plan to post a big chunk of Mirror Me on the web site in downloadable PDF format to give everyone an idea of what they're getting into. There are other projects going on, but we'll stop here for now lest you all get bored.

Nice to hear Ellen Datlow noticed "Divine Justice." If you folks haven't checked out SKULL FULL OF SPURS by Dark Highways Press, you should. It's a great book.

Comments: Hi Yvonne,

Finally made my way over to your message board. After a few personal setbacks it looks like the first issue of ETM will reach the printer by Aug 27. It's a small press co-op printer so I have to go by their timelines.

What have you been up to, anything new coming out we should look for? Hope all is well.

Comments: It is a pleasure to have found your messageboard. I have only read one of your books, but it being AfterAge was quite brilliant. I do commend you on your polished and fascinating writing skill. I find that when I recommend it to my friends, they say it is hard to find. AfterAge is a must read for all people enthralled with vampires.

Comments: Personally, I didn't think she'd do it. Sure, Yvonne mentioned ahead of time that it was her plan, but you know. There are those who talk the talk, then trip and fall down.

Not Yvonne. The room was packed with only a few chairs open and you should have seen the room collectively drop their jaws as Yvonne stood up with a Kali stick in her hand and said, "I think one of the most important things about writing fight scenes is authenticity. And really, you can't do it very well if you've never been hit. So line up right here. It'll be over quickly."

Even Michael Slade paled a little until everyone else started laughing, then suddenly happier, he joined in.

Von did us proud.

Comments: Heya Von,

It was good seeing you at WHC this year. You smelled nice (as always) and we actually got to SEE you during the con this time around! Very much enjoyed the panel, and wish I could have made the reading.

Comments: Hi everyone! World Horror in Seattle was a lot of fun, even though I seemed to have been booked solid for a couple of days in a row there, with barely a minute or two to breathe (let alone spend time with friends). The attendance for the Mirror Me reading was small but the people who were there seemed to enjoy the story, which was the Prologue and a pretty tightly edited version of the first three sections of the book. I passed my place on what I was calling "the bug panel" (but which was really more of a modern horror panel) to Weston Ochse, since due to scheduling mishaps he wasn't included. Weston also sat in on a military panel (really, who could be more qualified than a career Army guy?), which was very informative.

There was a Buffyfest panel which was pretty well-attended and where, of course, the biggest question was "How is she going to come back?" Even if we knew the answer (we don't), we couldn't spill the beans. But it was loads of fun to see the fan support and hear the speculation.

A big highlight for me was being included on the fight scene panel, which included Denise Bruchman, Michael Slade, and Stephen Baxter (who has practiced martial arts for 30 years). After an hour and a half, it was still going strong and we had to run folks out so the next panel could start. I didn't even get a chance to give my greatest gift to the audience: I'd brought my Kali sticks and as I told everyone, "If you really want to know how your character feels in a fight scene, line on up and I'll smack each one of you with this weapon." Alas, no takers. ::grin::

The time change kind of made me a sleepyhead too early each evening, though I did manage to stay up until 2 o'clock or later a couple of times. There were lots of marvelous friends and authors there, including Alexa deMonterice, Rain Graves, the artist GAK, Sephera Giron, Tina Jens, Brian Hopkins, and way too many to mention. The Stoker banquet was fabulous and it was excellent to be sitting at the Lone Wolf table when Brian picked up the Stoker for First Novel. Look for pictures on Darke Palace soon.

Comments: For those who are attending the World Horror Convention in Seattle this weekend, I have a reading on Saturday at 2:30. I will be reading a 20-minute
excerpt from MIRROR ME for the first time in public. MIRROR ME is a horror
novel I've been working on for a year which is about three-quarters complete.
Should folks be wandering around the Sea-Tac Seattle hotel with 20 minutes to, uh, "kill", please stop in
for a listen. Thank you!

Comments: Okay, I just got through with a three-day martial arts training seminar that was absolutely awesome. The seminar was at my academy, the Degerberg Academy of Martial Arts, and was given by Ron Balicki of Martial Arts Research System -- www.ronbalicki.com. We had a fabulous time and I tested and passed two levels in Kali. This means I'm still considered a beginning student, but I'm up to Level 3 in the MARS system now. I'm sore and bruised but quite pleased. :)
