Comments: Hi, I've been a Buffy/Angel fan for four years now. I have just reread the Willow Chronicles Pt. 2, and I have to say it's been a joy and an educational experience in seeing the conversion from script to narrative (I've been working on my own BtVS novella fanfic for a while now). The diary entries were wonderful glimpses into Willow's viewpoint. Well done! You captured the essence of the show without having the actors around to read the lines.

I notice in the Chronicles and in your original book Paleo, you use what the books on writing I've read call "limited third person," which I happen to like to read and to write in. The advantages of limited third, to me, at least, is having the intimacy of first, but without being locked into one mind for the duration of the story. A lot of so-called tie-in fiction uses a more omniscient viewpoint, which I suppose is handy in capturing interior monologue snipets from a lot of characters in short order, without having too many scene shifts.

Is it hard when you craft your stories (whether based on aired episodes, or your originals) to pick your viewpoint style and which viewpoints you write from, or does the story tend to tell you how it's going and what's needed?

Thanks for hosting this forum!

Lindsey -- I got your postage stamps. Thanks for sending them -- your book will be mailed back to you on Monday. Good luck with your stories! Oh, and I will have plenty of pictures on the wedding page. We just haven't received a pile yet, and others are still in disposable cameras with too many shots left on them to develop yet. We'll get there eventually though!

Yes, Mark, it was quite a time. I read on a South Dakota news site that the fire eventually spread to 11,000 acres and was finally considered under control as of 6:00 p.m. last night (7/13/02). So it burned for two weeks!

Comments: There's passion and there's passion....that's why there was a fire. Actually, Yvonne looked hot enough to make water blaze.

To check it out, I've started a page of Wedding Photos that have fire footage here.

Enjoy!

Comments: The stamps have been sent through the mail just yesterday so you should be getting them in the next day or so. I also took your advice and I started myself a story of my own idea and it sounds greater than any Buffy story I wrote. However, I am going to continue writing them, but there will be other times I make my own stories.

Lindsey -- Great. I'll be looking for it to arrive!

Cristine -- I'm sorry, but this isn't something I can help you with. My best suggestion would be to work with someone in your local church and your local library in finding someone who can read this for you. Good luck.

THE WEDDING

Yes, Wes and I survived... barely? As soon as I find time, I'll be putting a wedding page on Darke Palace, and Wes will likely put one up on his site, too (www.westonochse.com). The wedding itself was beautiful (hot outside!), the reception at his Mom's house was lovely... but short. See, there was this thing called the Grizzly Gulch Fire, which darned near burned out the town of Deadwood. If you go to www.dwdtv.com and click on Page One, you'll see pictures. That lavender-colored house on the corner? The one right below the flames? It's my mother-in-law's!

More about it soon on Darke Palace!

Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Cristina. I am original from Romania, so English is my second language. For this reason I want to apologize for future grammar errors.
I am writing a book where I am describing the price that I paid to come in American and became a proud American. My book is in Romanian and the intention for this book is to be a story teller for my future generation, for the time when I wont be around to be able to tell the story. I want them to don’t forget where they are coming from, and appreciate what they have here on this blessed land.
Every time I am telling my story to someone, they keep telling me that I should publish it because is magnificent. I don’t know if it is or not, but I will like to have a real writer take a look at it.

This is a brief description of what happened over eight years ago.

I came in America over eight years ago. I was a stowaway hiding in to a container what was coming on a big transportation ship from France (getting in the container that was another story). I was with my husband and 2 months pregnant at that time. We stay in the container for ten days, having the smallest amount of food and water with us. The ear got heavier and heavier so we had to drill holes on the floor, and put our nostrils on that hole so we could get some air. After couple days a big storm hit us. We had to open our container because the Ford transmission engines what were in to our container were moving badly and it could fall on top of us; at the same time we were frightened that our container it could fall over board in to the ocean. We got out, and we went on the top of the boat, sneaking around, so nobody could see us. A big wave, coupe feet tall fall right on top of us, luckily we didn’t got sweep away so we got back in to the container shivering, and soaked wet. In that night I lost my baby. Unfortunately the ship crew did see us that day. In the morning when we got out of the container to dry out our wet cloths, the crew came, and thanks God were Americans. If other country owned this ship our future could be very different then what it is today. We could had been killed, or sold as white meat, or who knows what. They handcuffed us, and after they found our that we want to seek political asylum in America, they let us get cleaned, they give us lots of food, and kept us in to theirs custody until we arrived in America, where INS took us to a prison. We stay for couple months in prison. In this time we found so many Americans who helped us, and toady I can say that without their help we couldn’t have make it. Those Americans who helped us back then, are our friends and family today. In the mean time we grant political asylum and toady, after nine years we are Americans, we have excellent jobs, a nice house, I am going back to school finishing my Masters in IT and the biggest miracle in to our life is our little girl. Because of a health problem anywhere in Europe I couldn’t have even dream of having a baby. Back in Romania I had to have two abortions because they didn’t let me keep the babies, not knowing what to do if complications will appear. But this dream came true here in America. For all those reasons, and many more, I truly think America is a blessed land.

Thank you for you time, and if you could guide me toward the right direction I will really appreciate.

Sincerely,
Cristina M Tudor

Lindsey -- Always write to please yourself first. If you don't like your own work, how can you expect anyone else to, either? Enjoy your work and it will show through in the quality.

Lisa -- Have patience. At this last minute date, the Necon folks are probably scrambling to get organized. It's a very relaxed, family-type con. Try emailing Dan Booth again (his address is on the Necon website -- campnecon.com. Not cashing your check doesn't necessarily mean they haven't received it, just that they haven't done their deposit or bookkeeping yet or whatever. Again, it's a very relaxed, small, family-run con, not like the big guys with paid accountants and whatnot.

Okay, folks. It's 1:30 a.m. and I still have packing to do before we leave in the morning!

BYE!

Comments: Congrats, Yvonne....

So...I have missed the big Kahuna...rats on me...! (I'm referring to your last absolutely positive answerable message.......not your fault, my own for having down time on computer and foolishly delaying writing to you.)

And though I've e mailed to the Booth's.......and have been something of a soldier waiting to hear from the that gang regarding NeCon--which dear old toastmistress Trish and other attendees of Stokers (we missed you and congrats!) too numerous to recount recommended--I cannot find out whether I am even registered. (Not your fault, I"m asking for help at this most inconvenient time what with your wedding...so, forgive me...thanks)

I duly sent check following that weekend and I know you've had less than zero time to update the 2002 list...but help...they have not cashed my check and are not letting little unknown me if I made the cut....

This is so out of your sphere of the moment...I know...and I apologize for this late and extremely untimely note...mea culpa...

And if you can shed any light on this matter, much appreciated. Anytime between now and July 18th....

Meanwhile. Congrats re wedding. Congrats and congrats again re the well-desrved Stoker. Loved the Willow Files II...all best to both of you!

All best,

Lisa
