Hi everyone! Just a quick note to say Wes and I will be at Horrorfind next weekend. He'll be running around and causing general havoc (he's a man, after all -- ::duck::) and I'll be working (::ahem::) at the Dustystacks table in the dealers' room. If you're there, come by and say hi to us.

One more thing: barring any last minute snags... we sold the place here and I'm finally moving to ARIZONA!!!! That strange noise in the background is me screeching with joy-- I've only been trying to get to Arizona since 1984. But seriously, things will be incredibly hectic in the next three and a half weeks, so if I don't answer email or I don't post here, don't think I'm ignoring you. It's just me trying to do Horrorfind, find a place to live 1,700 miles away, and pack all at the same time!

Cheerio!

Thanks for the compliments, Nell. I kind of liked the dress, too! ::grin::

Lindsey -- If you go to the "Offerings" page on my site, I've got all of my non-Buffy books up there for sale. The reason you can't find them in the stores is that, sadly, every single one of them is now out of print... but at least I do have copies for sale. You can also find them all at my little Dustystacks Bookstore site if you search on my name in the inventory. The prices on my main site are via Priority Mail, not Media Mail, and can't be changed within the buttons. If you think you'd like to order more than one book, or if you'd like a book shipped Media Mail (less expensive), email me directly and we'll figure it all out. Thanks for your interest -- I appreciate it.

By the way, to all the folks who've asked: Honest to gosh, I will have wedding photos up as soon as I can get to it, as well as a site update. There's lots to tell, it's just that we're trying (still) to sell this townhouse and move, plus we're getting ready for the big trip to Horrorfind (we leave in slightly over a week). It's a hectic life but someone has to do it... but why does it have to be me???! ha ha!

Comments: I was at Borders the other day looking up a few books and I decided to look up books under your name. I was interested in reading other books than Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Anyway, while I was searcing A LOT of your books were unavaliable because of being so hard to find. Do you know how I could get some of them books?

Hi CJ. Thanks for all the nice words -- I always like to hear from people who like my stuff rather than fuss about it. ::grin::

As to picking the viewpoint, I think it's the story that dictates it rather than me consciously making a decision. The Buffy stuff tends to be written that way because that's what the story requires for everyone to enjoy it and understand what's up with all the characters. I've written other stories in perfect present tense, and this is something I really enjoy-- it puts me in the main character's head, living the story with him or her right now, as it unfolds. It's almost like a life experience for both of us. Now that I think of it, I think that most of the personal favorites among the stories I've written were done that way, such as "Cold Beneath the Vinegar Tree," "Healer," "Ascension," and "Share My Strength."

Ayla -- Another thank you for such nice words! My, but I'm bless here, with two nice posts in a row. I hope you enjoy Red Shadows when you read it-- I don't recall anyone complaining about it. Lots of folks wanted me to write a third book in the "series," but alas, I lost my publisher so I don't know if that's ever going to happen. Don't miss DeadTimes and and That's Not My Name-- both are a bit different from the end-of-the-world scenario, but folks still seemed to like them. Mirror Me goes back to downright horror (where That's Not My Name is more modern day psychological horror), but hasn't found a publisher yet.

Thanks again to both of you! :)

Comments: Hi, I've been a Buffy/Angel fan for four years now. I have just reread the Willow Chronicles Pt. 2, and I have to say it's been a joy and an educational experience in seeing the conversion from script to narrative (I've been working on my own BtVS novella fanfic for a while now). The diary entries were wonderful glimpses into Willow's viewpoint. Well done! You captured the essence of the show without having the actors around to read the lines.

I notice in the Chronicles and in your original book Paleo, you use what the books on writing I've read call "limited third person," which I happen to like to read and to write in. The advantages of limited third, to me, at least, is having the intimacy of first, but without being locked into one mind for the duration of the story. A lot of so-called tie-in fiction uses a more omniscient viewpoint, which I suppose is handy in capturing interior monologue snipets from a lot of characters in short order, without having too many scene shifts.

Is it hard when you craft your stories (whether based on aired episodes, or your originals) to pick your viewpoint style and which viewpoints you write from, or does the story tend to tell you how it's going and what's needed?

Thanks for hosting this forum!

Lindsey -- I got your postage stamps. Thanks for sending them -- your book will be mailed back to you on Monday. Good luck with your stories! Oh, and I will have plenty of pictures on the wedding page. We just haven't received a pile yet, and others are still in disposable cameras with too many shots left on them to develop yet. We'll get there eventually though!

Yes, Mark, it was quite a time. I read on a South Dakota news site that the fire eventually spread to 11,000 acres and was finally considered under control as of 6:00 p.m. last night (7/13/02). So it burned for two weeks!

Comments: There's passion and there's passion....that's why there was a fire. Actually, Yvonne looked hot enough to make water blaze.

To check it out, I've started a page of Wedding Photos that have fire footage here.

Comments: The stamps have been sent through the mail just yesterday so you should be getting them in the next day or so. I also took your advice and I started myself a story of my own idea and it sounds greater than any Buffy story I wrote. However, I am going to continue writing them, but there will be other times I make my own stories.
