Comments: There's this too. If you want to hear three brand new ghost stories (so new, they, er, haven't been written yet), then come along to the Lit and Phil on Weds 21st Dec. There are three more on the Monday (Chaz Brenchley and Gail-Nina Anderson are on then).

And big up the Arts Council who are funding this bun-fight!

Comments: Just finished reading 'Another war'. Brilliant. Reminds me of the best of SF from the 50's and 60's. Aplot that keeps going and pages turning.

Comments: _The Lost Art_ will expand slightly, due to stuff I need (according to my agent) to put in. The story happens in my head, but he reliably informs me I need to put it on paper, too...

And yes, I AM THE LAW!

Comments: Simon, "thicker than Pratchett... thinner than Pullman" should fit in nicely on the shelves of Bastardstones then.

BSFA Judge? Does that mean you are the law? Do you ride a big motorcycle? :)

Anyway, proper news. I've finished The Lost Art. 95k. As I explained it to some friends: thicker than a Pratchett, thinner than a Pullman.

Comments: A quick update:

The Lost Art is nearing completion. I remember back in the dim-distant past (about 40,000 words in) that I was worried about coming in under my target of about 80k. Hoo boy. We're up to 85k and we're rolling on... (note to self - this will *not* become a fantasy brick)

I've also just mailed back the proofs of Another War to Telos. Full steam ahead there, too.

Comments: There's a very nice review of Brilliant Things in Vector#239. Not only does it say things like: "skillfully written, thought provoking and memorable", I get to be a Vector Recommended Read." Which is nice.

It also makes up for the utterly pants review on The Alien Online. You wonder if the reviewers were reading the same book...
