I used to be a 'Horror World' regular but then I got caught up in the storm of study and college and I kind of lapsed. So now, when I post something, I have to read back over PAGES of the relevant board. Oh well, it's worth it. I noticed a certain Anti-Franzen attitude on the board. At least one person hated THE CORRECTIONS and everybody seems to think Jonathan Franzen is a dick! Well, maybe he is a dick - I've never met him and I don't know anything about him apart from the famous 'Oprah Incident', so I don't have any opinion on him personality-wise. However - I read THE CORRECTIONS last week and I thought it was absolutely fantastic. I loved every sentence of that book. In fact, I didn't put it down until I finished it. I've heard a lot of complaints that the main characters are just too nasty - but that didn't bother me because that's why I read books, to get inside the heads of people who are not me. Anyway, the characters weren't ALL nasty. Then again, I always love those mammoth John Irving-type books that tell you EVERYTHING about the characters.
