We live here for the relaxed way of life. 22 Wed December 06 2006 - 15:37:57 Fullname: Angela & Hank Heroux Email: heroux003@adelphia.net Where are your from?: Lake Placid Homepage name: Homepage URL: Reference: Word of Mouth How good do you think this site is: No comments Comments: Since purchasing our home in 2002 we have been watching closely the increases that have been thrown without respect to us property owners. We have been working from 2-3 jobs each to keep up with the ever increasing costs. These increases from assessments, bond issues, electric, water, rentals, purchases and BUILDING have and will continue to impact each property owner. We DO need to come together and demand both accountability and restraint from our elected officials. Nothing comes without cost and here in Lake Placid the costs become immense. Everything impacts us. The Heroux Family will continue to take our protests to the voting booth and will continue to speak out against unneeded spending or building such as this proposal. Count on us to help in any way. All of us who reside here, the young, old and in between cannot keep up with the pace and would prefer to stand and speak out than to leave. Let's SLOW THIS WHOLE THING DOWN with one voice! Keep up the good work Rob! 24 Mon December 04 2006 - 15:26:13 Fullname: Georgia Jones Email: Where are your from?: Homepage name: Homepage URL: Reference: Advertisment-Banner How good do you think this site is: Looks Great! Comments: The land use code, (which is a good one) states in it's opening mission statement "...purpose and intent of these Regulations is to promote the health, safety and the general welfare of the community....................to promote aesthetic values, and to encourage the most appropriate use of land throughout the Village of LP and Town of N. Elba Comprehensive Plan. Further, its purpose is to consider land use and development........in order to preserve the character and quality of life enjoyed in the Community at present.... The overall goal of the Comprehensive Plan is to protect and enhance both the community and its natural surroundings. The comprehensive Plan recognizes that we are a dual-purpose community - that the needs of the residents and our visitors are equally important. 25 Mon December 04 2006 - 15:18:42 Fullname: Barbara Larson Email: Where are your from?: Homepage name: Homepage URL: Reference: Word of Mouth How good do you think this site is: Looks great! Comments: I've made my comments to the Editor of the Lake Placid News (December 1, 2006) before the story appeared in the ADE newspaper. The Hilton/Lane proposal is a real slap-in-the-face to the peace, beauty, character and charm of the village. They aught to propose a facelift to existing buildings to reflect a more Adirondack character, or..., take their operation outside the village business district like Whiteface Lodge or Whiteface Inn & Resort. They're blessed to anchor the north end of Main Street, but I don't think they're thankful to Lake Placid to be there! 27 Mon December 04 2006 - 14:18:42 Fullname: Jim Granr Email: jgrant@nationalsportsacademy.com Where are your from?: Lake Placid Homepage name: Homepage URL: Reference: Just Surfed On It! This morning was no different, but as I stood on the east shore of the lake looking towards where the Hilton plans its redevelopment project that would necessitate the violation of a variety of height and set back variances, I was moved by a pending sense of loss. The great American writer, John Keats, advised us to "surround ourselves with beauty." our quaint alpine village set in its natural beauty is truly a rare gift all Placidians share. If the HIlton is permitted to proceed with its plans, all who call Lake Placid home will share in a profound and permanent loss. 28 Sun December 03 2006 - 23:54:48 Fullname: Kathleen kurtis Email: kkurtis@optonline.net Where are your from?: Long Island Homepage name: Homepage URL: Reference: Word of Mouth How good do you think this site is: Well Done!!! Comments: I am an owner at the Whiteface Lodge. Lake Placid needs a master development plan. In the town i live in the rule is no building can be more than 36 feet in height. Are there village trustees in Lake Placid that pass zoning laws? The hilton in my opinion is an eyesore already. Main street moving foward must be developed in keeping with the adirondack environment that defines Lake Placid. The small town feel of main street will be changed forever and will also set precident for other large developers. Hilton Corp's only interest in Lake Placid is financial. I am only apart time resident. Full time resident need to take the lead. Best of luck, I will post this site on the Whiteface Lodge owners website. Hopefully you can get quite a bit of support. 29 Thu November 30 2006 - 19:22:56 Fullname: Rob Grant Email: robgrant@northnet.org Where are your from?: Lake Placid, NY Homepage name: Homepage URL: Reference: Word of Mouth How good do you think this site is: Well Done!!! Comments: Hi Steve, THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS! Make your voice heard by sending letters to the APA and members of the LP Zoning Board of Appeals. Most importantly try to attend any public hearings. The first public hearing will be held on Monday Dec. 18th at 7pm at the Lake Placid Town Hall. This meeting concerns the Lake Placid Hilton Redevelopement Project which is proposing a 46 unit condo /hotel on the shores of Mirror Lake. The project is requesting 4 significant variances which will irrevocably change Lake Placid's unique small town character, historic neighborhoods and remarkable view shed. 30 Thu November 30 2006 - 18:52:41 Fullname: Steven Email: Where are your from?: lake placid Homepage name: Homepage URL: Reference: Word of Mouth How good do you think this site is: Looks great!
