Women hate getting poked in the eye with a Stetson! 498 January 16 2003 at 20:44:27 Fullname: Joe Lansdale Email: www.joerlansdale.com Comments: First off, I'm not sure I'm doing this right, so I may need some help, least I put my eye out, but, I appreciate all the questions and comments on my work. I will be in Italy and England this year, some sort of book fair late in April in London, and in Italy in May for a book fair dealing with Noir works. Maybe I can detail this better later. I will be on book tour next week in Denver and LA, doing signings all over the place, including Skylight Books, Dark Delicacies and others. I hope to post this on my website shortly. Bubba Hotep first appeared in WRITER OF THE PURPLE RAGE, and it has been in other places, including THE LONG ONES. Right now, looks as if there will be a new book with my story in it, Don's screenplay and an intro by Bruce Campbell. More as I know for certain. Again, thanks for supporting my work, as trying to sell my sexual favors wasn't working out. Joe Lansdale 499 January 13 2003 at 08:40:48 Fullname: Luigi Giurato Email: luigiurato@katamail.com Comments: Hi Joe, it's nice talking to you! I'm writing to you from Rome, Italy. About a year ago I picked up "Freezer Burn" and I immediately recommended it to one of my friends who's into this kind of novels. Then I moved on to The Drive In 1 & 2, and now I had my girlfriend buy me "Cold in July" for Xmas. I have to start it yet, but my brother gave it a distracted look yesterday evening, and this morning I see he's about 30 pages away from the end!!! I can't wait to start it myself! I have to say I have to buy your books in Italian (something I hardly ever do) because they're absolutely not that easy to find in the original version, here! Let me know when you're coming to Italy!!! Luigi 500 January 12 2003 at 21:04:09 Fullname: Jeff Bilby Email: littlebibs@yahoo.com Comments: Great to finally have Joe R. Lansdale on board. This guy's short stories and novels opened up a big door for me. Since the mid -90's I had a hard time reading, left it behind, something I'd always loved since I was a kid. I just got sick of so much junk out there. I picked up a book by him "Mucho Mojo", while prowsing in a mall book store and I was just hooked on his style and have collected just about all his works. Thanks to him I've also found other greats like Ed Gorman, Ramsey Campbell, Simon Clark, Graham Masterton, Tim lebbon, Richard Laymon, T.M. Wright, to name just a few of the greats out there. This guy can really write great short stories and his Hap and Leonard novels are so full of great crazy adventures. I think he has just started to show his genius in his latest two "THE BOTTOMS" and the brand new one, "A FINE DARK LINE" which i'm just starting. If your looking for a writer all over the place funny, and a stylist who speaks of a place and time (east texas) like no other writer and who isn't afraid to tell it like it is, Joe is the man. I wish him more and more sucess. I just wish he'd visit New England one of these days! 501 January 11 2003 at 20:34:17 Fullname: Tom Piccirilli Email: PicSelf1@aol.com Comments: Hi Joe: thanks for another killer novel in A FINE DARK LINE. It's a terrific "companion piece" of sorts to THE BOTTOMS. Hope the signing tour is a wonderful one for you. 502 January 11 2003 at 13:39:30 Fullname: Mark PL Email: Comments: Hi Champion Joe, everyone. "Bubba Ho-Tepp is in WRITER OF THE PURPLE RAGE and, I think (can't be bothered going and checking) HIGH COTTON. Joe has written the introduction to Stephen Gallagher's fantastic new short novel WHITE BIZANGO. It's a good fun intro, Joe. But what's a "goober"? Is it like snot or something? We don't know that word over here in the UK. And when's your new novel due out over here? 503 January 11 2003 at 02:00:06 Fullname: "Bud" Simmerman Email: Simmerman81@cs.com Comments: Long time reader--first time "poster"! Just wanted to say there's not a better "sure-read out there today than Hisownself. More people need to know! 504 January 10 2003 at 22:40:58 Fullname: Scott Nicholson Email: Comments: The Bottoms...awesome. I've never read a dull or bad Joe Lansdale work. I can't believe such a thing could exist. 505 January 10 2003 at 20:06:30 Fullname: R. Hawkins Email: Rhawkins@eastman.com Comments: Greetings-from the Watered-down- town..... Rogers Email: LVBookman@aol.com Comments: Just to let everyone know--Joe is now doing a number of booksignings in different cities around Texas. A Fine Dark Line just came out in a Trade Hardcover, and Captains Outrageous is now out in a Trade-size paperback edition. I think Joe does more booksignings for his fans than any other author. For those of you who live in the Los Angeles area of California, Joe will be at the Dark Delicacies bookstore in Burbank on Jaanuary 24th for a booksigning. You can go to Dark Delicacies website for more information. 507 January 10 2003 at 15:24:37 Fullname: Andy Lawson Email: andy.lawson@lightage.co.uk Comments: It would be great to see Joe in the UK sometime - any thoughts on coming to Britain for some signings? 508 January 10 2003 at 05:12:12 Fullname: Tamara Thorne Email: Comments: Joe, You've been such a bad influence on me over the years. Thank you! 509 January 08 2003 at 21:15:25 Fullname: Wayne C. Rogers Email: LVBookman@aol.com Comments: D', Here's some more information about Bubba Ho Tep. The novella can also be found in Joe's anthology, Writer of the Purple Rage, which is out in paperback and can be purchased through Book People at www.bookpeople.com. The cost is $5.95. I think the signed copy of the hardcover, The Long Ones, runs $20.00. 510 January 08 2003 at 20:21:23 Fullname: Stuart Young Email: Comments: Joe -- Love your books. Couple of years back Waterstones did a promotional offer where if you bought their instore magazine you got a free copy of MUCHO MOJO. I bought mulitple copies so I could give them to my friends. That got them hooked on your stuff too.
