Scott Glenn was in The Challenge with Tshiro Mifume, and John Amos was the head of the Special Forces Assault Team in Die Hard 2.

www.joerlansdale.com Comments: Leonard likes almost any cookied with vanilla in it, the ones with icing inside for one, but his favorite or the wafers. Tommy Lee may in fact be too old for the part now, though I wouldn't carp. He was one of my early suggestions. Problem is getting these people to work for less than usual.
443 February 11 2003 at 20:02:37 Fullname: Stu Email: Comments: Just to drag this out even more when I suggested to one of my mates that Paxton should play Hap he countered that Paxton was too young (this was a few years ago) and suggested Tommy Lee Jones instead.
Didn't Scott Glenn appear in a martial arts movie years ago? He had to train as a samurai at a temple that owned a sword he wanted to steal (I think). I have a vague memory of him having a pretty cool martial arts fight scene. If he's still got the moves he'd make a great Hap.
For Leonard, I can't remember the actor's name but he played the Special Forces colonel in DIE HARD 2.

www.joerlansdale.com Comments: Jeff Bridges and Bill Paxton are my top two picks for Hap. I also like Costner a lot for it, and could see Bruce Willis in the role. Leonard. Sam Jackson. Lawrence Fishburn, or Don Cheadle are all great.

JamesGulisano@optonline.net Comments: I've always pictured Jeff Bridges playing a damn fine Hap. However, there's an obscure actor named Eric Winzenried who would probably fit the bill, too. Plays a demented, poop-chewing nut job in a straight-to-video flick called Los Locos. Worth a look for those who don't mind poop-chewin' :-)

email@example.com Comments: Hey Joe, great to read so many
people's responses and stories.
I returned from a great 12 day
vacation in sunny Florida, running around all over souther Florida and while I was there I
sat watching the sad news overtake
me after hearing about the Shuttle breaking apart over East Texas
and the wreckage, your name just
flashed by me, as well as your vivid
discriptions of the land from "The Bottoms", it will be quite an undertaking to find things strewn all over that kind of terrain. With all that is not going right
with this world, this just made it that much more sad. On a lighter
while I roamed the streets of
Key West I think I spotted Leonard
stumblin' out of one of those
honky tonk bars, but he got away, I'm sure Hap wasn't far behind.
Great to see yourownkindself and Poppy Z. Brite lighten up these
boards, 'bout time!

email@example.com Comments: Joe, I am a big fan. I read NIGHTRUNNERS back in 1990 and have been collecting all your stuff ever since (I also turned two friends into devoted fans). I wrote you a couple times and each time you were considerate in your replies. I would love to see DEAD IN THE WEST get made as well as the HAP & LEONARD novels, especially MUCHO MOJO. I think Bill Paxton would make a great Hap and Wesley Snipes would do well as Leonard.
