I've read all of these and they're all fun. Quite a divergent group. BOB -- shake, rattle and roll, my friend! CATHY -- glad you're liking my stuff. Would it be cheaper to go to the publishers themselves? Might try their websites, on my publishers list. Right now, avoid Leisure/Dorchester, though. Trouble in paradise there. More on that maybe later. Best, D 277 Sat March 10 2012 - 13:49:58 Fullname: Cathy davies Email: Comments: Just watched the woman last night, gripping film. Ive only recently started reading your books after seeing a recomendation of you on J F Gonzalez's "survivor". Just finished offseason and onto offspring. Looking forward to reading the rest. (Right to life is on its way). Theyre quite hard to get hold of over here though. Online they wanted £30 for the woman, out of my price range! Im in the uk. Keep up the great work, your truly talented. Would have started earlier, but had to read Dunwich Romance by your buddy Lee first. Hope things are well! I gave them Off Season to start off since it's your first one, and maybe a top 3 or 4 in my opinion, among, The Girl Next Door, Red, and Right to Life. I need to reread that myself. I'll let you know their feedback. Hope you're doing well...Later. 281 Sat February 25 2012 - 21:42:54 Fullname: Ketchum Email: Comments: I've been away from the board for a while, I know. I'll try to be better about it in the future. Life -- damn thing tends to intrude...JOSH -- I couldn't find the page for your song at that address. Sure it's correct? SEAN, KONNIE, DIRK -- I've done walk-ons in all my movies, including THE WOMAN, but in both that and THE GIRL NEXT DOOR if you blink you'll miss me. In THE WOMAN the shot's the interior of a car and I'm walking a dog behind it, also grilling burgers way in the distance in the picnic scene. In GIRL I'm also way in the distance as a carny, letting the kids onto the ferris wheel. But hey, in RED I've actually got lines! I doubt I'd take a part in a movie that requires much serious acting, SEAN -- I hate learning lines -- though I do like doing commentary. I'm open to that anytime. Glad you liked the one in THE LOST. And DIRK, cigars and cocktails sounds just about perfect. IAN -- Lucky and I work so well together that we're considering yet ANOTHER project after the current one is finished. Stay tuned. JOHN -- see you at KillerCon! BOB -- you get the novel yet? I think CD is catching up now. MEAGHAN -- I'm sorry we threw your cousin into a panic. Hope it wasn't serious. But glad you all liked the thing. DIRK - I don't have a paperback of IN THE DARK, only the hardcover, but I think I know what you mean. Was it payback for my mentioning THE WOODS ARE DARK in OFFSPRING? Stay well, folks, and all best, - D 282 Fri February 17 2012 - 21:26:39 Fullname: Dirk Email: Comments: Hey Dallas, hope all is well. Just finished Laymon's 'In The Dark'. I don't want to ruin the surprise for those who haven't got a hold of this one yet, but page 373 (paper back) very nice! I'm sure you know what I mean. Have a great weekend, Dirk 283 Thu February 09 2012 - 05:14:56 Fullname: Meaghan Truckey Email: Comments: OMG The Woman is great I showed it to my cousin and she had a panic attack afterwards, and I had to walk her to her car and then sit with her for a good 30min before she felt ok to leave. So far everybody I've shown it to sits there with a terrifed, painful look on there face. RIGHT ON! 284 Tue February 07 2012 - 23:48:16 Fullname: Bob Hinton Email: peteboiler@hotmail.com Comments: Hey Dallas! Man, I am stoked. Just watched THE WOMAN on blu ray and it is indeed better the second time! In addition to my positive feelings on the film itself, this time the soundtrack by Sean Spillane really stood out. I purchased the CD and listening to it now. Amazing. I think I heard Lucky saying in the special features that he hand picked Sean for the music, and it is perfect. Loved seeing you for a few minutes in the special features too. Now waiting on the novel to be shipped by CD. It's killing me! Congrats! After last year ending in a truly craptacular fashion for me, this one seems to be starting out okay! Some success with the writing and other projects. Dallas, I fear I won't make it to NECON this summer but will be at Killercon and will buy you a drink, sir. Deal? Everyone have a great week and weekend. 286 Tue February 07 2012 - 06:16:11 Fullname: Ian Email: Comments: Hey Jack, I'm really happy to hear that you and Lucky are working together again. It's good to see that great filmmakers are finally discovering you. It'd be nice to see the film adaptations of your work actually approach the quality of the source material. The Woman came close, but your writing is probably just too damn good for that to be possible. I hope you have as much luck with the movies as Stephen King has had. 287 Sat February 04 2012 - 15:35:32 Fullname: Dirk Email: Comments: What an evening! Had the neighbors over for a cigar and cocktails, then we settled in to watch the much awaited 'The Woman'. Outstanding! Pollyanna was amazing, casting couldn't have been better. I can't say enough, the four of us all gave it 4 stars. The only down side was the lack of your cameo! Have a great weekend! - Dirk 288 Sat February 04 2012 - 01:49:44 Fullname: Konnie Jones Email: Comments: I have to agree, The Woman movie is the best movie of yours!! I had to order through Amazon, as Best Buy isn't selling this! Too bad there isn't a commentary, I love the one with you and Monica O'Rourke on The Lost! Also, the interview you did on Header was awesome as well! No cameo in The Woman, though! :( 289 Thu February 02 2012 - 03:51:04 Fullname: Sean Email: aintnothinimpossible@gmail.com Comments: And I won't link to my site, because that ain't classy (not even classy to mention I have one probably...) but I was a really huge fan of Off Season and reviewed it, and plan to review Cover at some point. Cover is one of my favorite novels, so I've been putting it off, as it's understandably nerve-wracking to review something you genuinely love. Red was really heartbreaking too, and brilliant. As a huge lover of animals (work at a pet store currently) all the animals in your work, and the abuse they sometimes encounter, shakes me to the core. 290 Thu February 02 2012 - 03:28:43 Fullname: Sean Email: aintnothinimpossible@gmail.com Comments: You've said you were an actor at one point in your life. You've appeared in Offspring, and pretty sure you were a bartender in The Lost Anyway, my question is, could you ever see yourself having an acting role for more than a cameo, in either an adaptation of your work, or a different role unrelated to your written work? Also, would you ever consider recording another commentary for a film adaptation of your work? Do you enjoy listening to dvd commentary tracks? My favorite is Polanski's commentary for The Ninth Gate. He just randomly mentions how he's smoking a cigar and eating chocolate, and is silent for a good chunk of its duration. He explains the silence is because he hasn't seen his own film in a while, and is enjoying it. I just like the mental image of Polanski sitting in silence eating chocolate and smoking, watching his movie, when he's supposed to be recording the commentary. 291 Tue January 31 2012 - 11:31:03 Fullname: Josh Email: eltownproductions@gmail.com Comments: Hi there. He's got a billion ideas an hour, I'm just a plodder...DIRK -- thanks again for the recomms. I'll have to get on some of these, if I ever get out from under. IAN -- glad you liked THE WOMAN. They never asked us to do a commentary, which I agree is too bad. Oh well...Lucky and I are currently working on something else, but another WOMAN movie certainly isn't out of the question. We have had some ideas...take care, folks. -- D 293 Sat January 28 2012 - 03:41:42 Fullname: Ian Email: Comments: Hey Jack, I just watched The Woman and it is definitely the best movie based off one of your books, you and Lucky should be proud. What a great cast, great editing, great soundtrack, great writing and direction, I loved it! I was disappointed there was no commentary by you guys on the disc though. I hope Offseason can get made to complete a great trilogy of horror films, maybe The Cow can make it a quadrilogy. Any plans to continue this great series in book or movie form.
