My father was born on Oct 6 1912 in the state of New York and named Kenneth du Bois which was changed shortly there after to John Paul Weber by the family who adopted him from the orphange he'd been place in and then taken to Chicago. I too will state and quote Dr. Henry A. DuBois "I have yet to learn the name of that one who, by dishoner, or by dishonesty, has sullied his family patronymic." Yea I know not his name. I speak of a heritage lost and the sorrow there of. My father, Richard Du Bois b 1928, Brooklyn, is son of Thomas Du Bois and Maria Rivera. He was orphaned at an early age. He says his father was French-Canadian. I would love to hear from anyone who may think we are related or that can link my branch to Louis & Catherine, or W.E.B. Great work with the site and thank you for in-depth history.
