I am forming a small, experimental theatre company and am currently writing a play about a local ledend of the Thanet area, kent. I would love to contrast this piece, (inspired by an 18th century ledgend about smugglers and a recent local tragidy) in performance with a dark urban-type myth. So, I am extremely interested in devising/writing a short piece of theatre with my company based on your short story, 'The Laundry Imp' from your collection 'Flesh Wounds'. This would only be a short piece of theatre (25-35 mins), and would be put on together with the other piece I am writing. I am about to start Soho Black. I even have a copy of the comic book you wrote Menz Insana. Anyway, enough professing my love for your work, the real reason I am writing is to ask about the cinema trailer you did for Roofworld, I have been searching the internet and can find nothing. I have been waiting with baited breath for one of your books to be developed into a film but there seems to a multitude of obstacles getting in the way, none of which you are responsible for. Is there any more news about Vaughan Arnell directing Roofworld? Do you know if it is really going ahead. I am having real difficulty tracking down any concrete information on this. Before I go I just wanted to tell you that although I live in Edinburgh I have recently taken a job working in a call centre which operates the Central London Black Cab service. At the same time as I started this job in early December, I began reading Roofworld between calls, not only have it helped me in spelling the names of many London areas, it has also given me the opportunity to imagine some of the runs Rose and Robert might have found themselves undertaking. It has given me a real insight into a city I geographically knew nothing about, and for that, I thank you.
