I am a Bichon breeder, and am a member of the BFCA, and the MI SMBFC, and the WPBFC, also the breeder rep for the AKC for this region of the country. I am well aware of the importance of breeding for improvement for our breeds. My friend has heard all of the speeches from me. He wants to get the best Boxer, for a pet, and understands the importance of working with a show breeder. We lost BAM to ARVC recently. He was an amazing dog, loved by everyone. When he went to doggie day care, they put him with the puppies, because he was energetic and gentle. When he was boarded the owner took him home to her own family. I believe I went to school with Rita at Chippewa Hills?...but possibly you're not that Rita. My family has raised many Boxers over years and I practially grew up with this breed. I agree with you that they are as close to being human as a animal can be. I am currently raising a sweet little girl, her name is Dottie, she was the runt of the litter (and is still small in stature 9 months later but correctly proportioned) she is beautiful (fawn) and understands everything I say...now I didn't say she minds well, I just said she understood well. :) Do you have any tips on how to better train her? All of our previous Boxers have been Male & fairly easy to train...this little girl sometimes has a mind of her own! I have been told to utilize a shock collar...but would rather not use this technique. They all live in our hearts and each remembered with love. We just lost our Penny we would have had for 13 years this October.
